Decision-making Process in Home Hospice Care
Exploring Experiences of Japanese Patients and Families

Abstract
The death rate at the hospital in Japan is very high worldwide. In current Japanese society, home hospice care as the choice is unusual. That is why patients and their family are troubled whether choice was right. When there was the change of condition of patient, the trouble occurs. In the trouble, patients and their family make decision-making whether they continue home hospice care. Their decision-making is in influenced the opinion of their relative. And the decision is upset by a turn of condition of patients and around their family. This article pays attention to the spot of the home hospice care. In introductions of three cases, I describe process, embarrassment, and way of the decision when a patient and a family choose the home hospice care.
