The principal aim of this paper is to find out sociological concepts that contribute to the security and development of the farming lifestyle affected by the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. This study observed what was done by one farmer in aneffort to regenerate his organic farming business in Minamisoma, Fukushima Prerecture. Recognizing the realities of the farmer's life regarding the continuity of social time before and after the Great East Japan Earthquake I focused on and discussed the differences, and examined the structure of life after the accident. In conclusion, the paper claims that it is necessary to re-establish agriculture for the purpose of “eating” in Fukushima. The word “eating” in this case contains two meanings. One is the consumption of food, namely, producers and consumers, and furthermore, the fact that future generations will eat agricultural products. The other meaning is eating as “living.” This means farmers making a living and residing.
