Abstract

According to Habermas, ‘systematically distorted communication’ expresses “the reification of interpersonal relations” and “it must be a reference point for investigating pathogenesis” about socialization of personality. Yet, Habermas has not clarified its contents. In order for the readers to develop the ideas on ‘systematically distorted communication,’ it is requisite to answer two questions which arise from ‘systematically distorted communication’ of Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns. This paper, therefore, clarified the logic of ‘systematically distorted communication’ in the discussion of “Überlegungen zur Kommunikationspathologie”, focusing on the communication between the speaker and listener. This led to answering the two questions and the following points became clear. That is, it is necessary to make clear the meaning of ‘systematically distorted communication’ of Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns by conceptually relating it to ‘operation’ or ‘communication pathology.’
