Fine crystallization of garnet films for high density magneto-optical recording and the grain noise distributions

Abstract

We prepared Cu added Bi subsituted Dy iron garnet films by the RF sputtering method and post annealing. We found that the addition of 3.4% Cu into the garnet increased the coercivity and decreased the grain size. To analyze the medium noise we developed a new method that used CCD imaging system combined with a high resolution microscope.
