Abstract

This paper describes a coding scheme for interlaced images. First, an adaptive motion-compensated prediction is studied. Next, an adaptive arrangement of pixels within a DCT block is studied. The adaptiveness enables an effective control and this scheme provides a great improvement over basic coding schemes in picture quality.
