MC/DCT CONSIDERING PICTURE FORMAT A STUDY ON HDTV CODING

Abstract

It is found that DCT power distribution depends on the aspect ratio of picture format. By using this fact, average bit rate to be produced by image coding can be reduced when modified DCT coefficient scanning andloop filter are exploited.
