Abstract

To clarify the stereopsis disturbance in patients with Alzheimer's disease, we analyzed vergence eye movemenet when subjects fused a field sequential stereoscopic image. We have already analyzed vergence eye movement with real stimuli and got a result that AD patients showed unstable, unproper vergence eye movements. In this study, the stereoscopic image moved abruptly between crossed and uncrossed disparity in every 5 seconds, and the change of disparity was 1 degree. Healthy controls showed typical vergence eye movement but the response was slightly slow and large in change of convergence angle in older subjects. As for patients with Alzheimer's disease, they tended to show similar responses to the older healthy controls, and all AD patients except one moderate patient showed disparity induced vergence eye movement in proper directions.
