Study on EDTV Letter-Box Processing

Abstract

A newly developed letterbox processing techique is presented. Temporal high and temporal low components decomposed from original wide screen TV signal are separately encoded based on 525/1 : 1/30 [Hz] signal format. This technique can convert both progressive and interlace scan signal to letterbox form signal which is compatible with existing TV receivers.
