An Experiment of Image Acquisition with 4 chip CCDs

Abstract

New image acquisition system for HDTV is proposed. This system, named "Quad CCD imaging system", is equipped four 2/3 inch CCD sensors, two for green, one for red, and the rest for blue. To realize it, we have developed a new dichroic prism nearly as small as the conventional one for the RGB system. It is mentioned that this system is less vulnerable to the negative effect of the chromatic aberration on the resolution than the RGB system.
