An Optical Head Using 680nm Laser Diode for Magneto-Optical disk systems

Abstract

An optical head using 680nm laser diode has been developed for magneto-optical disk systems. Using 680nm laser diode, we obtained 1.01μm x 1.38μm beam spot. Read/write characteristics in 1.2μm track pitch disk were examined. In a result, 46dB CNR was achieved at 0.91μm pit length.
