Abstract

The KL-transform image coding scheme based on variable block shapes can diminish remarkably the mosquito noise, because it can fit well block boundaries to the principal contours in an image. To do so much better and to improve both SNR and reproduced image quality, in this paper, movable areas for vertices of each block are magnified.
