To solve the segmentation problem along with the motion estimation problem simultaneously, recently we have proposed a region-oriented motion estimation algorithm. The region-oriented algorithm has two distinct features. One feature is that the algorithm handles a present frame and a previous frame equally, and the other feature is that the algorithm employs the top-down strategy proceeding from global motion estimation to local motion estimation. This paper improves the local motion estimation technique employed in the region-oriented algorthm.
