Visual Observations of Cavitation in Liquid Hydrogen Turbopump Inducer

Abstract

A rocket requires propellant pumps of the high suction performance not only to reduce its total weight,but also to increase its reliability. It is very important to know flow and cavitation patterns of an inducer to design the high suction performance pump. In this experiment, both the patterns were observed using a PIV system and a high speed camera, respectively. Both the relationship was discussed.
