Abstract

Strain distribution was analyzed using two dimensional digital image correlation method (DIC) for four-point bending of wooden beam. We took account of the out-of-plane displacement measured by stereography with 2 set of digital camera system, and tried to examine the accuracy and the issues of digital image correlation analysis for wood specimen.
Strain distributions of wooden beam could be measured with good accuracy with DIC. But out-of-plane displacement occurred not negligibly, so that the strain distribution had to be corrected considering the effect of the out-of-plane displacement, i.e., displacement toward the camera. In the specimen whose physical property is asymmetric as a timber including knots, the correction was effective for the accurate strain measurement.
