This paper describes a basic principle, called group communication architecture, which integrates a real-time conferencing service and a store and forward type office work support servive, such as electronic mail-service, document filing and retrieval (DFR) service, reservation service and schedule management service, from a view of supporting group cooperative work. And a prototype of distributed real-time multiparty desktop conferencing system which is based on the group communication architecture and efficientry cooperates with office work support services is described. This system is implemented by using IVD-LAN and OS/2-based PCs.
