Worldwide deployment of ISDN is providing a good opportunity for providing such audiovisual (AV) services as videoconferencing, videophone, audiographic conference. CCITT Study Group XV has been establishing a harmonized set of Recommendations far AV communication systems, cooperating with Study Groups I and VIII, and recently succeeded in producing five Recommendations; H.221, 230, 242, 261 and 320, This paper presents the framework for the AV Recommendations and outlines technical features of each Recommendation.

This paper describes a three-dimensional face model reproduction method for the Virtual Space Teleconferencing System. In this method, 3D data of facial feature points are obtained from input stereo images by image processing method based on the color, the shape and correlation of face components. Using these 3D data, the prepared base face model is modified to approximate the input facial image. Facial images virtually viewed from different angles are reconstructed after modifying. In this method, it is possible to reconstruct a face model automatically and independent of facial image size and face tilting. Experimental results show that this method is very effective.

In this paper, we introduce the interactive image communication system Quick-CUICK "ISDN" Firstly system configuration and basic functions are presented. This system is based on Personal computer and image processing unit. Second, we present the application of this system and the design of a suitable user interface. AGC(Audio graphic conference), image retrieval and remote monitor are available. Finally, we discuss the communication interface and protocol. This system has ISDN(2B + D), X.25 and X.32 interface. We introduce the new service elements for interactive image communication on application layer.

A personal multimedia-multipoint teleconference system, PMTC, is described. PMTC allows teleconferences using full motion video, high quality voice, and graphics such as documents, still pictures, handwritten images and pointers, over a broadband ISDN (B-ISDN) . This paper discusses PMTC' s service concepts and system architecture, considering actual conference behavior of businessmen and their needs for conventional video teleconferences.

This paper describes a basic principle, called group communication architecture, which integrates a real-time conferencing service and a store and forward type office work support servive, such as electronic mail-service, document filing and retrieval (DFR) service, reservation service and schedule management service, from a view of supporting group cooperative work. And a prototype of distributed real-time multiparty desktop conferencing system which is based on the group communication architecture and efficientry cooperates with office work support services is described. This system is implemented by using IVD-LAN and OS/2-based PCs.
