Color Plasma Display Panels using Etched Metal Sheet as Cathode Electrodes

Abstract

Full color plasma display panels using etched metal sheet as cathode electrodes have been studied. In this panel, a lower than 20V of sustain voltage and a 2-fold improvement of brightness were obtained compared to a panel using think film printed Ni as cathode electrodes. As one of new cathode material coating technologies,electroplated Ni cathodes have been studied. The plated cathodes had some advantages; the resistance of a plated cathode electrode was one third of that of non plated cathode electrode and a change of sustain voltage after 2000 hour dischsrge lifetest was very few.
