Taking advantage of the characteristics of arts and crafts lessons that facilitate the enhancement of children’s “self-esteem”, whole school initiatives were implemented through collaboration with artists, museums, parents and teaching professionals. As a result, this strategy had the effect of increasing children’s self-esteem. The teachers who participated in the Visual Thinking Strategies seminar experienced the attractiveness of art viewing appreciation and realised once again the incontrovertible fact that their own points of view, thinking and feelings should not be the sole consideration. When planning lesson activities, it is important for teachers to take into account the need to develop empathy with the children, as well as creating, revising and improving learning activities in collaboration with them. The study indicates that even teachers who are not art specialists can appreciate Visual Thinking Strategies when looking at exhibits together; Visual Thinking Strategies can be utilised to develop various ways to see and feel them together. Visual Thinking Strategies proved to be attractive learning activities that can enhance not only creativity, but also enable children to find new meanings and points of view/thinking and develop a sense of self-esteem.
