Abstract

In recent years, there has been a demand for education that fosters qualities and abilities needed to cope with future society. We believe that the aim is to utilize learning in a society in which children live in general rather than learning that is confined to a subject. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey for the following two purposes. First, to establish to what extent elementary and junior high school students feel a connection between art and crafts and other subjects, and to clarify the type of connection points (Survey 1). Second, to clarify how students feel that the learning content of the art department can be utilised in their daily lives (Survey 2). A paper survey was conducted targeting grades 4 to 6 in elementary school and grades 1 to 3 in junior high school, and the responses were analysed. As a result, it was difficult to say that there was a feeling of connection between the arts and crafts/arts department and other subjects, or that the lessons learned in the classroom were fully utilized in the daily lives of the students.
