The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of how the university students see children’s drawings, as to find a clue to the appreciation activities in the arts and crafts classes. The targets of analysis are the student’s descriptions of the five works published in the textbook of the School of Arts and Crafts. The following characteristics were confirmed as a result of extracting and analyzing and considering the descriptions of the five elements of “subject”, “material”, “shape/color”, “ expression activity”, and “sympathy”. The first result, compare to the focus on the material and the theme expressed in the center, there is no established <seeing> action that focuses on the expression perspectives such as color/shape and expression activity. The second result , the attitude of trying to understand the intention of the person who expressed is strong, and the viewer’s own <seeing> viewpoint and empathic attitude are weak. In addition to trying to understand the themes and the intentions that to express, but also being able to broaden the children’s “seeing” through their own “seeing” experience focusing on the constructive thoughts and actions Examination of instruction is an issue.
