The Use of Focusing-Oriented Dreamwork

Abstract

This paper reports on a case of focusing-oriented dreamwork in which the focusing was done on a strange dream and discusses the use of focusing-oriented dreamwork. Focusing-oriented dreamwork uses several questions from the 16 questions for the focuserʼs felt sense. Based on a case study of focusing-oriented dreamwork, the focusing process was discussed. In this case study, two types of questions were used, one asking for associations and the other asking “What about your childhood?” The focuser deepened her self-exploration through her focusing- oriented dreamwork. She was able to progress her experiencing process and gain new awarenesses about herself. The characteristics of the focusing process, the focuserʼs awareness and self-exploration, and the guiding of the guide in the focusing process of focusing-oriented dreamwork were discussed.
