Abstract

Strabismus is a common visual disorder that adversely affects gait and dynamic balance. Common therapeutic interventions for strabismus include wearing prism glasses or surgery. However, few studies have investigated the effects of strabismus and wearing prism glasses on gait. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of gait prism glasses on walking in patients with strabismus. [Subjects] Twelve strabismus patients were included. [Method] The measurement parameters were gaits for self-selected and fast gait using the force platform. The paired t-test was used for statistical analysis and comparison between groups was performed. The significance level was set to 5%. [Results] The gait line length was significantly increased by wearing prism glasses. However, no significant difference was found in other parameters. [Conclusion] The results of our study suggest that the walking parameters using COP as a marker in people with strabismus can be changed by correcting visual acuity with prism glasses.
