Abstract
Investigations were made on the effects of vitamin B_6 on the experimental cancer in albino rats with dimethylaminoazobenzene. A deficiency as well as an excessive administration of vitamin B_6 resulted in more incidence of cancer than the proper dose of the vitamin. The adminstration of dimethylaminoazobenzene caused a decrease of mitochondria and catalase activity of the lymphocytes of the blood. In case of vitamin B_6 deficiency, the former showed a remarkable decrease, while the latter was influenced by the vitamin deficiency. Furthermore, the transaminase activity of the liver of the vitamin B_6 deficient animals decreased gradually, but the animals receiving a proper as well as an excessive dose of the vitamin did not have no effect.
