Abstract
Thiamine dicetylsulfate or thiamine hydrochloride was administered orally to rats and the positions of absorption in digestive tracts were determined by means of the chromic oxide index method. At the upper end to middle of small intestine, the thiamine derivatives were similarly absorbed 75-80 per cent of that initially given. Thiamine contents in rat organs were determined 1-5 hours after the administration. A significant increase in blood thiamine content was, observed 1 hour after the administration and it did not change for 5 hours. In liver and kidneys a slight increase in thiamine contents was observed, but thiamine content in muscle did not change for 5 hours.
