Abstract
On this paper, the spectrophotometric behaviors of the two fractions, S_<12> and R_<12>, which were separated from the cells of B. aneurinolyticus by the procedures as already described, were studied in the oxidoreduction states with several substrates, and moreover the fluorecent spectra of both deproteinized filtrates and those of denatured protein by urea were measured for the detection of flavin and other substances, and then the self-compensated functions of these fractions were investigated. In S_<12> (the supernatant fraction of centrifugation of 12,000 rpm) there were pyridinoprotein, flavoprotein containing FAD, a cytochrome-like substance which characterized by. the peak of 420mμ in difference spectra (α and β bands of this substance are trace) and an unidentified substance having a specific absorption at 315mμ in the difference spectra and the dehydrogenase activity for several kinds of substrates, R_<12> (the residual fraction of centrifugation of 12,000rpm) contained pyridinoprotein which took part in the metabolism of α-ketoglutarate and cytochromes which are detected by the peaks of difference spectra at 420,530 and 560mμ. Flavins were not detected in R_<12> as in S_<12>, so that these materials may exist in bound type. And also this fraction R_<12> showed the characteristic difference spectra with limited substances such as succinate, α-ketoglutarate and aspartate.
