Abstract
The oxalic acid in the urine was measured to know whether the oxalic acid in the urine is increased after an oral administration of a large amount of ascorbic acid. The enzymatic determination method by Mayer・Ribeiro was used. Two g of ascorbic acid was given daily to five patients in absolute rest and the measurement was performed on the 6,7,13,14,20,21,27 and 28th day. The blind test of the oxalic acid in the urine was done for the last two days before the experiment. In 2 cases 5 g of sodium bicarbonate was given together with 2 g of ascorbic acid. It was noted that the urinary excretion of the oxalic acid had a tendency of increasing by the administration of ascorbic acid in some cases.
