Abstract
Wistar strain male rats were fed on either vitamin E-deficient or vitamin E-excessive diet for 9 months since weanling and survey was made on the pathological changes of their testes caused by vitamin E-deficiency during the period. The lesion of testes occuring in the vitamin E-deficient rats was classified into the following 5 types : slightly regressive, compensatory I, II, waste I and II types. Then, the multinuclear giant cells were divided into spermatids, spermatocytic and Sertoli's cell types. The close relationship between the incidence of mitosis of spermatogonium and the vitamin E content in the rats suggests that vitamin E might be essential or act as accelerator in mitosis.
