Abstract
The effect of AsA and copper on the activities of detoxication enzymes which catalyze drug metabolism were studied in the guinea pig liver. There was no significant alteration of sulfamethazine N-acetyltransferase activity in scorbutic guinea pigs. GSH S-aryltransferase was depressed in the deficiency of AsA, whereas UDP-glucuronyltransferase was activated in the AsA deficiency. Copper administration showed no effect on these enzymes.
