Abstract
The utility and safety of a multivitamin preparation (MVI-12) and blood α, β, γ, δ-tocopherol levels were studied during intravenous hyperalimentation (IVH) with MVI-12. The results were as follows; No signs of deficiency or hypervitaminosis were observed in the daily amount of MVI-12. Total vitamin E level in serum increased from 8.1±1.4 to 12.6±1.5μg/ml and α-tocopherol level increased from 7.6±1.4 to 10.5±0.3μg/ml after MVI-12 administration. However, this change was not influenced by 10% fat emulsion (Intralipid) administration. γ-Tocopherol level markedly rose from 0.4±0.1 to 2.6±0.3μg/ml during administration of 10% fat emulsion in 5 patients.
