Abstract
This present report aimed to confirm the change in L-carnitine supply following the change of feedstuff in the formula feed for poultry. The feedstuff of formula feed has been changed in accordance with the change of the cost of formula feed, active utilization of organic residue substances and/or the safety of the substances under the relating lows. During the past about 20 years, as a boundary 2001 when bovine spongiform encephalopathy happened in Japan, utilization of animal feedstuff showed a dramatic reduction to about 2% from 8.8% in the mean level of poultry formula feed. L-Carnitine supply is highly dependent on the animal feedstuff. Therefore, it seemed that L-carnitine supply in the poultry formula feed was reduced to nearly quater level in the same manner.
