The purpose of this study was to research the changes of body composition and physical fitness of elderly weekly hill walkers for 2years. The participants total 38 members (17 males and 21 females) of a mountaineering party who did a hill hiking once a week. The measurements were conducted once a year from 2017 to 2019. The tests of body composition consisted of height, weight, BMI, body fat percentage and bone density, and the tests of physical fitness consisted of muscle strength, agility, body flexion, balance, and ability of daily physical actions. As a result of the body composition tests, weight, BMI, and body fat percentage were lower than those of the general average value at the same age in Japanese. Especially, the statistically significant differences were observed in the values in 2019.In addition, all physical fitness values except for balance ability in male were superior than those of the general average value at the same age in Japanese. Moreover, these values were maintained for 2 years. In conclusion, these investigations showed that weekly hill hiking is effective for age-related changes in body composition and physical fitness, and it enables elderly hill walkers to maintain the desired level of health compared to the general level of the same age.
