Abstract
In order to preserve art works or historical documents for the purpose of appreciation, research, education, and so on, studies on digital museum is making progress in various research fields. Especially, in case of preserving three-dimensional objects, it is necessary to take digital photographs from various directions. We studied a lossless cording method using the rotation compensation for the image sequence of the cylindrical object. However, the method can’t be applied to arbitrary objects. In order to apply the rotation estimation method to an arbitrary object, the knowledge on the cross-sectional shape of the object is required. In this paper, we propose a method to estimate a cross-sectional shape of the object using a pattern matching method.
