Recently, large amounts of digital contents can be accessed by networks. Now the problem of protection of multimedia information becomes more and more important because digital contents can be easily copied without any distortion or degradation. For a solution of this problem, studies on digital watermarking techniques are advanced. There are many types of attacks against the watermark, such as the image processing, the image compression, and so on. Especially, the watermarking method which can hold the high robustness for the image compression is desirable because of the image compression is inevitable for preservation and transmission of image data. This paper describes the digital watermarking method, which has robustness to attack by JPEG compression, based on the relationship between the DCT coefficients.
