The Low Speed Approximation method (LSA), which is known as Rankine Source method, uses the double model flow as the basic flow. On the other hand, High Speed Approximation method (HSA) is the new Rankine source method, which uses inverse images above the still water surface in the high speed range. In order to avoid the numerical difficulty of the nonlinear simultaneous equations derived from the Kutta's condition, we introduce SQCM method which uses the source panels together with QCM (Quasi-Continuous Vortex Lattice Method). We obtain singularity distributions and then calculate the wave profiles, lifts and wavemaking resistances of the 3-D tandem hydrofoils using LSA and HSA combined with SQCM in a wide range of speeds. According to these results, we show that HSA is more easily applicable to the 3-D tandem hydrofoil system in the high speed range.
