It is known for high-speed crafts that transverse instability might occur at running more than a certain speed even though they posses adequate static stability applied relevant criteria. In this study model experiments in the towing tank were carried out to examine the transverse instability at various speeds and GM values for a high-speed craft with large conventional hard-chine. Then, for the improvement of such transverse stability, three types of effective way including ordinary spray strip were added to the hull as appendages individually and were also examined. As a result of model experiment, so-called "Flap Chine", one of three types, shows remarkable improvement in comparison with other ways. This "Flap Chine" makes conventional hull form possible to be more stable at relatively higher speed or smaller GM value at same speed.
