Abstract
anti-1,4,5,8-Tetra-t-butyl-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-1,4:5,8-diepoxyanthracene has been synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c with cell parameters of a = 11.880(4), b = 10.036(3), c = 12.428(4)Å, β = 113.509(4)°, V = 1358.8(8)Å3, and Z = 2. The crystal structure was solved by a direct method and refined by full-matrix least squares to a final R value of 0.045 with I > 2σ(I). The molecule has a crystallographic center of symmetry, and half of the formula unit is independent.
