Abstract
The salt 1,1′-butane-1,4-diyl-dibenzimidazolium picrate, in the form of an methanol solvate, is reported. The compound was crystallized in the triclinic system, space group P1 with a = 6.9285(6)Å, b = 10.8287(9)Å, c = 12.9941(11)Å, α = 100.000(4)°, β = 104.942(3)°, γ = 94.865(4)° and Z = 1. The molecule of the title compound, which lies on the crystallographic two-fold axis in the unit cell, contains half of the molecule and one picrate ion. Also, the 1,1′-butane-1,4-diyl-dibenzimidazole cation units are linked by π-π interactions to give infinite two-dimensional (2-D) supramolecular layers, which are further linked by the intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the 1,1′-butane-1,4-diyl-dibenzimidazole cation and the picrate groups to form a three-dimensional (3-D) network supermolecule.
