The title compound, 5,6-benzo-4-[(4-methyl)phenoxymethyl]coumarin, was synthesized and its crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The compound crystallizes in the triclinic system, with space group P1. The unit-cell dimensions are a = 8.9048(10)Å, b = 10.0350(11)Å, c = 10.4696(12)Å, α = 98.981(2)° β = 106.930(2)° γ = 114.046(2)° and Z = 2. The final R index is R1 = 0.043.
