Crystal Structure of (Z)-(±)-2-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-4-(4-methoxybenzylidene)tetrahydrofuran-3-carboxylic Acid

Abstract

The title compound, (Z)-(±)-2-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-4-(4-methoxybenzylidene)tetrahydrofuran-3-carboxylic acid crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P1, with the following unit-cell parameters: a = 8.768(5), b = 9.974(6), c = 11.576(6)Å, α = 100.586(7), β = 93.277(7), γ = 111.067(6)°, Z = 2. The crystal structure was solved by direct methods using single-crystal X-ray diffraction data, and refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures to a final R-value of 0.0597 for 3172 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular C-H…O hydrogen-bonding interactions.
