A mononuclear terbium(III) complex, [TbL¹] [H₃L¹ = tris(2-(2-hydroxy-3-methylbenzylideneamino)ethyl)amine, was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The compound crystallizes in a trigonal system, space group P3 and Z = 2 with cell parameters of a = 12.2874(4)Å, c = 10.8085(5)Å, V = 1413.24(9)Å³. A crystal structure analysis revealed that the complex is pseudo-helical, and that the Schiff-base behaves as a tri-deprotonated heptadentate ligand, encapsulating the metal ion within the N₄O₃ cavity.
