The structure of 7-(dimethylamino)coumarin (1) was determined by X-ray crystallography. The structure of 1 contains two crystallographically independent molecules. The two molecules are almost planar. Intermolecular C-H…O, C-H…π, and π…π interactions were observed in the crystal lattice.
