The title complex crystallizes in a triclinic space group P-1, with unit-cell parameters of a = 4.8079(2)Å, b = 10.8505(3)Å, c = 11.7609(4)Å, α = 107.2057(13)°, β = 96.8425(13)°, γ = 102.2061(16)°, V = 561.89(3)Å3, and Z = 2. The structure revealed C–H···O associations as well as π···π interactions between the zwitterionic quinaldic acid molecules, while other intermolecular associations between zwitterionic quinaldic acid and chloranilic acid molecules involve N+–H···Ocarboxyl, and O–H···Ocarboxyl interactions.
