Crystal Structure of (2-Picolinato)bis(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) Chloride

Abstract

The crystal structure of the title complex, [Ru(pic)(bpy)₂]Cl·CH₃CN·1.5H₂O (pic = 2-picolinato; bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine), was determined by X-ray crystallography. Single crystals were obtained by the vapor diffusion of diethyl ether into an acetonitrile solution of [Ru(pic)(bpy)₂]Cl. The complex crystallized in a monoclinic system, and was characterized as: I2/a, a = 15.40850(14), b = 13.07370(14), c = 27.3830(3)Å, β = 98.0922(9)°, Z = 8, V = 5461.27(10)ų. The R1 and wR2 values were 0.0267 and 0.0714, respectively, for 5008 reflections.
