We have isolated a virus strain from the brain of a patient who died of rabies in January 1948 following a very long incubation period. We are now continuing immunolog ical studies with this strain. In the course of experiments with mice aa curious variation phenomenon was noted, which seems to us to be a sufficient interest to merit description and discussion.
