Abstract
It was clarified that the synthesis of polycarbonate from tetrachlorobisphenol A could be carried out in the same way as in the case of bisphenol A except for using of a suitable catalyst during blow of phosgene. Also, the synthesis of polycarbonates from diallyl-bisphenol-A, and bisphenol-B, -C, amixture of-A and-B could be made under the same condition as in the case of bisphenol A. However, polycarbonates from bisphenol B and C, differing from that of bisphenol A, showed infinite solubility in solvents of high boiling point, such as xylene. The new hard and transparent polymer was also obtained by heating diallyl carbonate of xylylene glycol with a small amount catalyst.
