Abstract
Four kinds of alkyl substituted derivatives, 1), 2), 3) and 4), of hydrocinnamaldehyde of following formula were synthesized through a new route and theiraromas have been investigated.where in 1) R1=CH3, and R2=H ; in 2) R2=n-amyl, R2=H ; in 3) R1=CH3, R2=secbutyl group ; in 4) R1=CH3, R2=tert-butyl group.Four kinds of product thus obtained were highly pure and their aroma were varied from cinnamon-like or hyacinth-like aroma to jasmine-like aroma when R2=H and the number of carbon in R1 was increased. With an increase of carbon numbers in R2, it gave cinnamon-like aroma to lilly-like aroma, when R1=CH3.Thus, many kinds of aroma of flowers ware obtainable by the variation of combination of R1 and R2, and these are utilizable as artificial flower oils, perfumesfor toilet goods and soaps.
