Abstract
Dimethyl vinyl carbinol (DMVC) reacted thermally and isoprene, prenol, DMVC-prenyl ether, diprenyl ether and C10-isoprenoid alcohols (C10-alcohols) were produced. But under mild conditions, C10-alcohols were scarcely obtained. In acid catalyzed reactions, the same products as in the thermal reactions were obtained. However, in the thermal reactions main products were ethers whereas prenol and C10-alcohols were the main in the acid catalyzed reactions.
Prenol was also treated under same conditions as above and the products obtained were analogous to these obtained in the reactions of DMVC.
