Abstract
The potassium salt of dicyano-S-methylisothiourea (2), which was prepared from cyanamide-dithiocarbonic acid ester (1) with cyanamide, was made to react with amino compounds and several new compounds were prepared.
Reaction of (2) with ammonium nitrate produced diaminomethylmercapto-s-triazine ; similarly, reaction with aniline hydrochloride produced 1-pheny 1-2, 6-diimino-4-methylmercaptotetrahydro-s-triazine.
In the presence of alkali, (2) reacted with cyanamide, guanidine and dicyandiamide to give tricyanoguanidine salt, cyanomelamine salt and dicyanomelamine salt, respectively. By treatment with hot aqueous alkaline solution, (2) was converted to dicyanourea salt and amino-dimethylmercapto-s-triazine. Addition-elimination reaction of some related compounds of (1) and (2) were also investigated.
