Abstract
1-Amino-2-cyanocyclopentene-1 (2), which is a Thorpe reaction product of adiponitrile, was condensed with another adiponitrile, and a mixture of 4-amino-6, 7-dihydro-5H-cyclopenta [d] pyrimidine-2-valeronitrile (4) and 1, 4-di (4-amino-6, 7-dihydro-5H-cyclopenta [d] pyrimidil) butane (5) was obtained. In case of heterogeneous catalysis, (2) was obtained in 5070% yield.
(4) was hydrolyzed to 2, 4-dihydroxy-6, 7-dihydro-5H-cyclopenta [d] pyrimidine-2-valeric acid, the results show that both the cyano group and the amino group were hydrolyzed.
