Acetylenic compounds are valuable intermediates in organic syntheses. Application of organometallic complexes as a reagent or catalyst has developed extensively a variety of new methods of formation and introduction of an acetylenic group into organic structures.
In this article, synthetic methods of acetylene derivatives using organometallic complexes are reviewed according to the following classification based on the type of reactions : 1) substitution reaction 2) addition reaction 3) elimination reaction 4) metathesis and reaction of carbyne metal complexes and 5) use of protecting groups.
